American Moslem Society · Dearborn, Michigan
The backbone of AMS: five volunteer teams that carry the masjid’s work from the prayer hall out into the community, serving every age group from young children to elders.
Faith, mentorship, and belonging for children, teens, and young adults growing up Muslim in America.
Since its founding, the American Moslem Society (AMS) has been serving youth and catering to their social, personal, and spiritual needs because the youth are its future. They are our hope that will pave the path for upcoming generations. The main focus of the youth programs at the AMS is to maintain and strengthen their Muslim American identity, especially during the challenges they constantly face, and to keep the youth well aware of their past, present, and future.
This is sought through the various activities at the AMS such as its Quranic and Islamic study circles, monthly lectures, seminars, workshops, Quranic contests, and its monthly youth nights. The AMS also organizes fun recreational camping trips for the youth, locally and nationally, to allow them to engage in team building exercises and bond with fellow friends in nature.
The committee's work is not limited to teens and young adults; it also runs age-appropriate programming for children, helping them develop a love for Islam and a sense of belonging long before they reach their teenage years.
Mission
To nurture the next generation of Muslim leaders, from children to young adults, through Islamic education, personal development, and community engagement.
Building bridges with our neighbors through interfaith dialogue and support for new Muslims.
The Outreach Committee builds bridges between AMS and the broader community through interfaith dialogue, public engagement, and support for new Muslims.
Mission
To foster understanding and goodwill between Muslims and the wider community while providing resources and support for those exploring Islam.
Telling the AMS story through design, photography, video, and livestreams.
The American Moslem Society's Media Committee is in charge of everything related to media creation. It is the committee tasked with creating flyers, recording videos, livestreaming lectures, and taking pictures of events. Like all successful committees, the media committee has a clear mission and a clear vision.
Vision
The AMS Media Committee aspires to make the American Moslem Society one of the most well-known Islamic organizations in North America.
Mission
The AMS Media Committee strives to consistently and professionally represent the American Moslem Society and its committees online by creating media that align with the American Moslem Society's identity, mission, and vision.
Education, community, and support for the women and girls of AMS.
Engaging and working with women is one of the top priorities and concerns of the American Moslem Society (Women are the twin halves of men). To this end, the Sisters Committee was formed.
Its goal is to address women's issues through various activities that mirror the activities of other AMS committees and are appropriate to the nature of women and their important role in society. The committee works to raise women's educational, cultural and social awareness through weekly lessons, lectures and various annual activities for women and girls.
Community-wide events, relief work, and everyday services for every family at the masjid.
The Activities Committee plans and executes community-wide events that bring families together and celebrate our shared faith and culture. Its reach spans the calendar, from weekly lectures and monthly retreats to Ramadan, Eid, charity drives, and the day-to-day services run out of the AMS main office.
Mission
To strengthen community bonds through inclusive, family-friendly events that celebrate Islamic traditions and foster togetherness.
